Robinson rallies to runner-up in Camp Barnes Benefit Race at Georgetown
Following the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to northeastern Ohio, Ross Robinson visited Raceway 7 (Conneaut, Ohio) on Friday evening to pilot the Stockley Materials No. 7 Late Model for the Great Lakes 50.
Starting the opener in 12th via a fourth-place finish in his heat, Robinson climbed one spot in the 50-lap affair to place 11th.
For the 35th Pittsburgher on Saturday at Pittsburgh’s Pa. Motor Speedway (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Ross took a provisional into the $30,000-to-win A-Main but only completed 18 laps before pulling off.
With Mother Nature pushing the event back a day and giving him the opportunity to race, Robinson trekked overnight to compete with his wife Amanda at Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.) for the Camp Barnes Benefit Race. Ross took command on the opening lap of the feature but was forced to the hot pit seven circuits later. He rallied from 14th to register an impressive second-place finish. Amanda started the 30-lapper in eighth and went onto place sixth.
